Matt Reed is the co-owner and head instructor of the Total Martial Training Center. Matt is Huntingdon County's first BJJ black belt. Matt began studying the martial arts over 25 years ago. He started in the traditional Tang So Do system before branching out into other disciplines. He holds a Shodan (black belt) in Yamarashi JiuJitsu under Mark Gutshall, a full instructorship in Total Martial Training and is also a certified instructor in the A.P.T (assault prevention training) curriculum. Matt was a long time private student of Eric Grove (multiple time national Sambo Champion and 13-1 Professional Mixed Martial Arts Fighter) and earned a Black Belt in the Combat Sambo system under Mr. Grove. Matt also holds his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor Brad Souders and the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Roundtable.
Matt has continually sought to grow his martial arts knowledge. He has trained at seminars and camps throughout his career. Balintiwak Escrima, Catch Wrestling, Judo, and Kickboxing are just a few of the subject areas he has studied and practiced. In the early 2000's Matt began an earnest study of exercise and diet eventually emerging as a Certified Personal Trainer and Sports Nutritionist.
During the late 1990's and early 2000's Matt competed in Sambo, Judo, Brazilian Jitsu, Submission Grappling, and Mixed Martial Arts type competitions. He has competed in the Combat Sambo Nationals, Keystone State Games, and many local contests.
Matt Reed is an experienced coach and teacher. He has designed and implemented everything from a group cardio conditioning class for beginners, to an intensive personalized strength and conditioning protocols for competitive athletes. He has taught one on one private lessons, and in a small group, large group, and seminar settings.
Matt Reed continues his training to this day, seeking out the best art training knowledge he can find in his mission to bring out the best possible results in himself and his students.
Mark is a Full Instructor in Total Martial Training, holds black belts in Yamarashi Jiu Jitsu, Goshin Jitsu Karate Do, and Aiki Jiu Jitsu. He is a certified instructor/trainer of A.P.T. (Assault Prevention Training). Mark is also a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor Brad Souders.
Mark has been practicing the martial arts for over 35 years. While he was introduced to martial arts as a young child via "Judo chops" and "wrestling tricks" with his father, he began his formal study in the early 1980's at Juniata College's Judo club with Sensei "Doc" and Sensei Jan Finkbeiner and later continued his Judo and Jiu Jitsu study with Sensei Dave McCallister and Ichido Judo Club. A pivotal role in Mark's journey was when he began studying Goshin Jitsu Karate Do as well as Japenese Aiki Jiu Jitsu with Sensei's James Ott and Dick Clark eventually earning his Shodan (Black Belt) ranking in those styles in 1992. Continually searching for practical, realistic concepts Mark developed the Total Martial Training (T.M.T.) system as a means to further this pursuit. Mark has continued to expand his knowledge base, attending many camps, seminars, and retreats for a variety of martial disciplines including Jeet Kune Do, Sambo, Balintiwak Escrimia, Combat Submission Wrestling, and others.
Mark has competed in karate fighting, forms and self -defense touraments. He has also competed in judo and no gi grappling contests and is a former Keystone State Games Gold Medal winner.
Mark has served as head instructor for adult, children and competitor classes in karate, jiujitsu, submission grappling and T.M.T. He developed the APT (assault prevention training) program to provide self protection skills for those not able or willing to attend regular classes. With the Total Martial Training Team, he has provided in person hands on protection skill training to teachers, first responders, women shelters, correction and law enforcement officers, church groups, hospital staff, and many more.
Mark is still an avid student of the martial arts and continues to seek improvement in his teaching and performance capabilities. He truly believes that martial art study can benefit everyone.

She has been an instructor for 2 years and has experienced her own incredible transformation. She is passionate about helping others on their fitness journey, inside and outside of classes.
Brad is an IBJJF certified 3rd Degree Black Belt under Rogerio Taborda. He started training BJJ in 1993 and has been teaching for over 20 years. Brad has competed in several major BJJ/Judo tournaments, and fought in MMA. Brad has helped produce numerous champions in multiple grappling, and MMA organizations.
Scott Miller began his martial arts study over 15 years ago. He started out at the North Florida School of Self Defense studying the style of Hopkido. After returning home to Fulton County, in his search for martial arts he came across Yamarashi Jiu Jitsu and the Total Martial Training system. Scott has been a long time private student and training partner of Matt Reed and earned his black belt in Yamarashi Jiu Jitsu in February of 2020. Coach Miller holds a full instructorship in the Total Martial Training system and has earned a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor Souders.
Scott is a silver and bronze medalist at Naga and grappling industries and has also won gold at local tournaments.
Scott continues to strive for excellence with his fitness and his martial arts training. He’s a fine example for anyone of all ages to follow.
